Yorme Isko Moreno Domagoso’s understanding of martial law has left international relations expert Sass Rogando Sasot and Atty. Trixie Cruz-Angeles of the Luminous cringing with embarrassment.

Sasot was reacting to Yorme Isko’s statement about countries around the world formerly led by military are transitioning into a civilian authority which Sasot corrected immediately.

O my Lord. Isko doesn’t understand what Martial Law is. He said if we look at the world, those who were formerly led by military are transitioning into a civilian authority. We shouldn’t let Martial Law happen daw. UGOK! Martial Law is NOT the same as a military junta.

Sasot lectured Yorme Isko about Martial Law, which is an emergency power enshrined in the Philippine Constitution granted to the President.

Martial Law is an emergency power granted by the constitution to the president. No one has any control of when an emergency can happen or not. [Link here]

Meanwhile, Atty, Trixie Cruz-Angeles of the Luminous was reacting to the phrase Yorme Isko said that Martial Law will ” “put muzzles on every citizen” or silences every Filipino citizens.

Isko Moreno claims that martial law will “put muzzles on every citizen.” Sa madaling sabi, patatahimikin daw ng martial law ang bawat mamayan.

Atty. Trixie wondered if Yorme Isko was sure of what he was saying because according to her knowledge, the Constitution did not suspend the Filipinos freedom of speech in the event of martial law.

Sigurado siya? Parang ibang saligang batas ang nabasa niya. Sabi sa constitution, hindi daw sinususpindi ng martial law ang mga probisyon nito.

So tuloy pa rin ang freedom of speech.

Atty. Trixie offered a word of advice to Yorme to end her FB post.

Little knowledge is dangerous. Little knowledge about laws and the constitution is more devastating.
