As the eagerly awaited October Golden Week draws near, hotels in Macau are seeing a rise in bookings, celebrated based on the lunar calendar, the festival will start on September 29 and end on October 6, coinciding with China’s National Day on October 1. Tourists from all over the world are getting ready to travel to Macau, leading to an unprecedented increase in hotel reservations. In fact, some hotels have already reached full capacity for most nights.
During the festival, the average price for a standard room per night is set at MOP3,000 (approximately USD 373), with rates going over MOP4,000 in some cases. These prices do not include service charges and taxes, reflecting the high demand and limited availability during this peak season.
Several hotels have reported that their standard rooms, designed for two adults, have been booked for a minimum of three nights during the upcoming holiday. As of September 22nd, a total of 22 hotels associated with Macau’s well-known casino facilities have already secured reservations for their standard rooms. However, for last-minute travelers, options are becoming scarce.
While some hotels still have availability, prominent establishments like Wynn Macau and Wynn Cotai hotels, owned by Wynn Macau Ltd, as well as the Nüwa and Morpheus Hotel towers in the City of Dreams Macau, owned by Melco Resorts and Entertainment Ltd, and the Epic Tower at Studio City, also owned by Melco Resorts and Entertainment Ltd, have limited remaining rooms throughout the festival.
On the other hand, several hotels have completely filled their standard room capacity, leaving no availability for latecomers. Sands China Ltd. proudly owns these highly sought-after hotels, reflecting the immense popularity of their properties during this festive period.
The strong advance reservations, particularly for the luxurious five-star hotels, are expected to have a positive impact on the casinos’ gross gaming income (GGR) during the festival. Macau’s vibrant casino scene, renowned globally, will benefit from the high demand for hotel rooms, ultimately contributing to the overall tourism and entertainment industry during this period.
Noteworthy hotels that have secured bookings for most nights during the upcoming holiday include Banyan Tree Macau, The Ritz-Carlton Galaxy Hotel, Hotel Okura Macau, JW Marriott Hotel Macau, and Macau at the Galaxy Macau property. The recent opening of Raffles at Galaxy Macau, as part of the property’s Phase 3 expansion, has also attracted significant attention and is fully booked for the festival.
As the excitement grows for the October Golden Week, tourists are eagerly making their travel plans to enjoy the lively atmosphere and attractions that Macau offers during this festive period. From the famous casinos to the captivating cultural celebrations, visitors can expect a memorable and immersive experience.
