New GTA V Mod Adds a Whole Storyline Powered by Inworld AI’s Dynamic NPCs

GTA V Mod

This week, modder Bloc released a new GTA V mod powered by Inworld's AI Character Engine, delivering an entirely unique experience to Grand Theft Auto V. Available for download via Nexus Mods, this GTA V mod also features voice narration by ElevenLabs software.

For the first time in one of his demonstration videos, Bloc himself explains what this GTA V mod is all about.

In this mod, you will be in the role of a police officer in Los Santos. And unlike most of the GTA V mods out there, this mod will follow a handcrafted storyline.

But even though it follows a storyline, it will give you quite a bit of freedom of choice in multiple areas. But most importantly, this mod does something you have never seen in any other GTA V mods before, which is its AI capabilities, meaning that every character you will interact in this mode will have an AI that will be powered by the Inworld Character Engine. Everything these characters are going to say to you will be completely unscripted, and it will be unique based on how you interact with them, so you can talk with them with your own style. You can say whatever you want
and however you want.

Going into the technical details, Block's GTA V mod features non-player characters (NPCs) powered by over 30 different AI models to provide the greatest possible variation when interacting with the denizens of Los Santos.

Wccftech readers may recall that this isn't Block's first attempt with generative AI mods. He originally implemented ChatGPT into Mount and Blade II: Bannerlord but later switched to Inworld, as discussed in our exclusive interview from April. Just a few days after that chat, he also released a Skyrim AI mod based on the same technology.

Inworld made the news this week, too, having received yet another funding round from the likes of Samsung, Microsoft, LG, and more. It is now the most funded startup at the gaming/AI intersection, and it also announced that the Character Engine is now open source.

Soon, Cygnus Enterprises will become the first commercial game to add Inworld AI's tech, though others may soon follow. Generative AI could very well usher in a new age of total immersion in game worlds, and we'll be here to document it from the very beginning.
