The former NPD Group (now named “Circana”) has released its full North American sales data for June, and it was a very healthy month for the industry – the 2nd biggest June ever in fact. Players spent $4.7 billion on games, additional content, and hardware in June, a 9 percent year-on-year increase. After the Switch surged back to #1 in May due to the release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, PS5 was back on top last month – this was PlayStation’s biggest June in terms of hardware sales since 2008.
On the software front, the much-anticipated Diablo IV was #1, followed by Final Fantasy XVI at #2 and Street Fighter 6 at #3. Other new additions include F1 23 at #15 and Story of Season: A Wonderful Life at #17. Meanwhile, Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom held onto the #4 spot and both Marvel’s Spider-Man and Spider-Man: Miles Morales leapt back into the top 10 due to some sales last month.
