Final Fantasy XVI How to Increase Your Potion Potency

Final Fantasy XVI

Any JRPG fan knows you should never venture out without a full complement of health potions. We’ve already covered how you can increase your maximum potion capacity in Final Fantasy XVI, but what about their potency? As you level up, you get more HP, so it’s important that the effectiveness of your potions keeps pace. Thankfully, a pair of sidequests will allow you to boost their effectiveness. Here’s how to increase your potion potency in Final Fantasy XVI…

“The Root of the Problem”

1 – Sometime following the “After the Storm” main mission, head to “Backyard” area of the Hideaway and talk to head botanist, Nigel. He’s looking for some Morganbeard flowers.

2 – Fast travel to the obelisk in Martha’s Rest.

3 – Head west into the “Sorrowise” area.

4 – Fight a pack of goblins and an lvl 26 Gigas. Once you’ve taken them out, collect the Morganbeard.

5 – Head back to Nigel and give him the flowers. He’ll boost the efficacy of your potions for you. Healing potions now give you more health, and buffs last longer.

“Please Sir, Can I Have Some Morbol?”

1 – Sometime after the “Like Father, Like Daughter” main quest, head back to talk to Nigel again. He wants you to bring him the remains of a Morbol.

2 – Check out the Hunts board for a Morbol named “Carrot.”

3 – Fast travel to the Three Reeds obelisk in Rosaria.

4 – Head west a bit, then north into a small clearing called The Whispering Waters.

5 – You’ll find Carrot, a pretty tough lvl 35 poison-spewing Morbol here. Take him out and collect the item he drops.

6 – Return to Nigel and he’ll further improve your potions. In addition, the “Backyard” area is now home to a rather lovely garden.

Once again, if you combine these quests with the ones for increasing potion capacity, you should be able to dive into any battle without worrying you’re going to run low on HP.

Final Fantasy XVI is out now on PS5. You can check out Wccftech’s other Final Fantasy XVI guides here.
