Lawyer critic hits Senator Manny Pacquiao’s shifting view on LGBTQ community: “Even when he tries to be nice, condescending pa rin siya”

After Senator Manny Pacquiao formally accepted the PDP-Laban nomination as its standard bearer for president in the 2022 polls, critics think the boxer turned politician is now open for attack.

Atty. Trixie Cruz-Angeles of the Luminous, one of the popular critics of Senator Manny Pacquiao on Facebook, took the lead and fired the first shot.

One of the most popular methods of putting a politician in an embarrassing situation and hopefully makes the voters question one’s vote for him or her is to show the politician easily flipflops his stance on the issue depending on the people he or she is talking to.

The first issue that Atty. Trixie of the Luminous submitted to the public as EXHIBIT A of Senator Pacquiao’s flipflopping was his stance on the issue of the LGBTQ community in 2016 and in 2021.

1. Says those who have gay sex are worse than animals: “It’s common sense. Do you see animals mating with the same sex? Animals are better because they can distinguish male from female. If men mate with men and women mate with women they are worse than animals.”

2. Apologizes to LGBTQ : “I’m sorry for hurting people by comparing homosexuals to animals. Please forgive me for those I’ve hurt. I still stand on my belief that I’m against same sex marriage because of what the Bible says, but I’m not condemning LGBT. I love you all with the love of the Lord. God Bless you all and I’m praying for you.”

3. Posts in his Instagram a Bible verse, later deleted: “If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.”

“May mga pamangkin ako na members ng LGBTQ, mga workers, mga kasama sa bahay. Who am I to judge a person?Mahaba kasi yung statement na yun. Lahat tayo kawangis ng Panginoon. Hindi ko sila kino-condemn. Maganda nga katrabaho sila. Masisipag at masaya.”

Atty. Trixie concluded the post by expressing her opinion that the senator lacks sincerity.

Even when he tries to be nice, condescending pa rin siya. 🙁

Netizens have mixed reactions on Senator Pacquiao’s backpedaling on LGBTQ community.

Religious extremist like Pacquiao should not be voted in public office, chimed in another.

I would never trust a man like that. Retracting statements when running public posts, declared another netizen.

Meanwhile, this netizen defended Senator Pacquiao on his stance against LGBTQ community. Totoo naman na nasa Bible ang mga salitang kasalanan ang same sex…. Pero kasalanan din ang mag judge ng tao,,,, you can advise them respectfully naman….
