This is the opening line of Manila Bulletin writer Krizette Chu to begin her FB post in reaction to Leni Robredo expressing desire to manage the pandemic response if given the chance by President Duterte with a caveat.

Chu was in utter disbelief that the Vice President has the audacity to offer her services with one condition – blanket authority in the management of the country’s covid response – when she couldn’t find 5 tickets to the Philippines from NYC at the height of Typhoon Nina just because it was the holidays.

Chu claimed she tried an online ticketing services to check who was telling the truth or not. Guess what Chu discovered? Yes, there were available tickets, Chu claimed. Can you imagine someone like Robredo who can’t book 5 tickets to the PH trying to buy millions of vaccines for the PH during a global scarcity? Chu asked.

FYI: I tried Skyscanner at that time and there were tickets. Can you imagine someone who can’t book 5 tickets to the PH trying to secure hundreds of millions of vaccine during a global shortage? Hahahahah tickets nga lang na meron, di kaya, vaccines pa kaya in global shortage. GHORL.

Chu ended the brief FB post by leaving Leni Robredo with a friendly but brutally frank advice:

Iangkop ang ambisyon sa kapasidad. Fact check agad to ng independent media outfit kuno pero Leni Robredo defender media talaga.

Netizens wasted no time in diving into the comment section to echo Chu’s sentiment.

Sabihin natin na pahirapan talaga. uhmm ilan kayo ulit? 5 kayo — ikaw, your 3 good daughters, at your senior mother. And all of your children are adults na no? may isa pa ngang doctor. So, if you really want to go back home because you feel the URGENCY to do your national responsibilities as the 2nd highest person in power and authority, siguro sugal na yan kahit na chance passenger ka or 1 ticket available whatever the cost is, papatusin mo diba? Kaya naman ihandle ng mga adults mo na anak yung pag-uwi nila with your mother. One word: EXCUSES. Eme ka talaga, Mama Leni  commented one netizen.

I was in New Jersey that time and did mock booking. There were available tickets both from JFK and EWR. #sinungalingsileni seconded another netizen.

Meanwhile, some netizens commented that Robredo could have flown back to the Philippines alone while her daughters and mother can follow the VP at a later date since they are not needed in the typhoon response in Bicol which was on the path of the typhoon.

One ticket is easy to secure VP Leni Robredo the rest should just follow home later. Your daughters and mother are not in politics & the country don’t need them. You are!
