Assassin’s Creed Mirage – How to Lower Your Notoriety Level

Assassin's Creed Mirage

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is the latest in Ubisoft’s blockbuster series, and a bit of a throwback to an earlier time for the series. Rather than a big overstuffed RPG, Mirage is more of a traditional action-adventure experience, and as such, some folks more used to recent games like Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Valhalla may need to adjust slightly.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage focuses heavily on stealth, and as such, the game reintroduces an old-school Notoriety system. Basically, if you’re caught committing crimes or killing people, your Notoriety will rise, which increases the pressure from guards as you explore the city. So, how do things change the more notorious you become? And how can you get rid of your Notoriety? Scroll on to find out…

Notoriety Levels

So, there are basically three levels of Notoriety in Assassin’s Creed Mirage…

  • Level 1 – Certain tattle-tale citizens will recognize you and call the guards to attack you.
  • Level 2 – Guards are touchier and more likely to notice and come after you. Extra archers will show up on rooftops. Citizens are even more likely to tattle on you.
  • Level 3 – Guards are at their most alert and high-level squads of guards will be on the lookout for you.

How to get rid of Notoriety

So, how do you rid yourself of Notoriety? Well, if you’ve only been caught doing something low level, like pickpocketing, you can simply hide for a few seconds and your Notoriety will naturally decrease. That said, if you’ve been caught killing somebody there's no avoiding it, you’ll have to do one of the following…

  • Tear down wanted posters – Once you hit at least Level 1 Notoriety, wanted posters will pop up at various set locations around Baghdad. Simply follow your radar to find one. Rip the poster down and you’ll go down one Notoriety level.
  • Pay a Munadi to cancel your notoriety – Munadi are a type of herald you can find around Baghdad and they’ll completely cancel your notoriety in one go if you give them a Favor Token. These tokens are gained by completing various sidequests and activities. The price for using the Munadi is kind of high, but if your Notoriety is maxed out and you don’t want to skulk around looking for wanted posters, it may be worth it for you.

And just like that, your crimes are absolved – until you’re caught killing somebody again.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is available now on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, and PS5. You can check out Wccftech’s other AC Mirage guides here.
