Scott Sibella the Resorts World Las Vegas President has been reportedly fired by the company according to a report in the Daily Mail newspaper. The sacking came as the company said his departure was down to violating company policies.
In a statement a company spokesperson said that,’This action comes after the company was recently made aware that Mr. Sibella violated company policies and the terms of his employment.’
Genting which owns the brand said that Peter LaVoie will take up the role following the departure.
The Mail claim the sacking comes after several weeks where Californian Federal government officials had visited Resorts World in what the newspaper claims is in connection to illegal sports betting within the MLB and NFL.
Sibella is a veteran of the Las Vegas gambling industry as serving in high executive roles with companies such as MGM Grand, Mirage, Treasure Island, Tropicana and Golden Nugget.
It has been reported in several news outlets that a month ago twelve employees from Resorts World had been subpoenaed in connection with illegal sports betting run by former minor league baseball player Wayne Nix who is said to have links to high level sport stars in the MLB and NFL.
Nix has already pleaded guilty to other crimes involving sports betting in previous years and is facing more allegations of being involved with sports betting and sporting athletes.
