According to CD Projekt Red's lead scene programmer, Filip Pierściński, the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 update can cause heating issues.
That's what the programmer said on Twitter yesterday. As expressed by Pierściński, next month's 2.0 update and the Phantom Liberty expansion will push your rig extensively with an expected workload of 90% on modern eight-core CPUs. "Before release CP2077 2.0 and PL please check conditions of your cooling systems in PC", the programmer wrote on Twitter. "We use all [that] you have, so workload on CPU 90% on 8 core is expected. To save your time please run Cinebench or similar and check [the] stability of your systems."
When asked whether Cyberpunk 2077 will "cook" a player's system as much as a Cinebench run following the 2.0 update and Phantom Liberty, Pierściński replied that this isn't the case. Still, players can experience thermal throttling if the cooling in the setup is insufficient.
Heheh of course not we are not synthetic benchmark, but still you can hit thermal throttling, if you have insufficient cooling system. It will results below expected performance or even crash in extreme.

It will be interesting to see how Cyberpunk 2077 will perform on modern-day PC setups. Earlier this year we already reported that the then added Overdrive Mode set a new benchmark for PC games. Now, with the release of the free 2.0 update, and the paid Phantom Liberty DLC, CD Projekt Red will be pushing modern-day hardware even further. As such, CDPR updated the minimum and recommended PC requirements for the game some months ago. "The changes to the minimum requirements are a reflection of our new standard of requirements, which we believe better represent the minimum PC configuration required to run the game at 1080p, while maintaining an average of 30 FPS at low preset", CDPR explained. "The reason for making these changes is that updating the requirements is an important part of the game improvement process, and of enhancing and adding new features."
Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.0 will be released soon with the Phantom Libery expansion launching on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S on September 26.
