The Walking Dead: Destinies Game Lets You Rewrite the Whole Story of Season 1 to 4

The Walking Dead: Destinies

Yesterday, renowned leaker billbill-kun unveiled The Walking Dead: Destinies, a new game set in the universe created by Robert Kirkman. A third-person action/adventure game developed by GameMill Entertainment, the biggest draw of The Walking Dead: Destinies is that it'll allow players to rewrite the story of the first four seasons of the beloved AMC show.

In the trailer, for example, we witness series protagonist Rick Grimes being killed in the famed showdown against former friend Shane. The latter then proceeds to take over control of the survivors' camp.

The Walking Dead: Destinies includes the following characters:

  • Rick
  • Shane
  • Michonne
  • Daryl
  • Merle
  • Carol
  • Carl
  • On
  • Glenn
  • The governor
  • T-Dog

Confirmed locations include Atlanta, the Greene farm, the prison, and Woodbury. During gameplay, players can access weapons such as katanas, revolvers, and shotguns. There's also a bit of a management game in that players must keep the supplies stocked and the camp upgraded and maintained.

The Walking Dead: Destinies is said to launch on November 14th for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X, and Nintendo Switch at a price of $49.99.

The information was later officially corroborated by IGN, which also uploaded an announcement trailer that you'll find embedded below.

This is the first licensed The Walking Dead game to be developed since Overkill's The Walking Dead, whose failure helped put Starbreeze in a troublesome position for years. There were also The Walking Dead: Onslaught and The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners (plus its sequel), but those games only got released for Virtual Reality devices.

Of course, the most successful game adaptation of the IP remains the first one made by Telltale. Let's hope The Walking Dead: Destinies can follow in those footsteps, even though the budget doesn't seem very high, at least judging from the trailer.
