Genshin Impact 4.0 Leaks Reveal Fontaine Map Details for Lyney Lynette and Freminet

Genshin Impact

The launch Genshin Impact 4.0 is only weeks away, and plenty of details about the next big even-numbered update for F2P action-RPG are leaking. For those who haven’t been keeping up, Genshin Impact 4.0 will introduce Fontaine, a Hydro-themed area somewhat inspired by France and other Mediterranean countries. HoYoverse promises Fontaine will be a land of sophistication, both in terms of culture, and their steam-powered technology. Fontaine will also introduce the ability to explore underwater regions.

Well, reliable Genshin leaker No-Lifeguard4399 has posted the full map of Fontaine on Reddit. The region is more compact than some others at launch, particularly the sprawling Sumeru region last added to the game, but again, this area also lets you explore underwater. Also, Fontaine is almost certain to further expand with additional 4.0 updates.

So, that’s the Genshin Impact 4.0 map, but what about new characters? Well, HoYoverse has confirmed three new characters are on the way – the long-teased Lyney and Lynette, as well as a character named Freminet. Thanks to well-known Genshin leaker Mero, we now know what all three will bring to the table.

Lyney is a bow-wielding Pyro user. His Elemental Skill will see him unleash fireworks on the field, while his Elemental Burst allows him to turn into a cat that can run around lighting enemies on fire.

Lyney (Pyro bow-wielder)

Elemental Skill - Bewildering Lights

Lyney does a flourish with his hat, unleashing a firework surprise! When used, he will clear all current Prop Surplus stacks and deal AoE Pyro DMG to opponents in front of him. DMG will be increased according to the stacks cleared, and this will also regenerate Lyney's HP based on his Max HP. If the fireworks hit opponents, the number of stacks will be the basis for the Energy restoration to Lyney.

When a Grin-Malkin Hat created by Lyney is on the field, the fireworks will cause it to explode, dealing AoE Pyro DMG equal to that of a Pyrotechnic Strike. The DMG dealt through the Grin-Malkin Hat in this way is considered Charged Attack DMG.

Elemental Burst - Wondrous Trick: Miracle Parade

Unleashing his magic, Lyney turns himself into a Grin-Malkin Cat that can move around quickly. When the Grin-Malkin Cat gets close to opponents, it will send flames falling down on them, dealing at most 1 instance of Pyro DMG to each opponent. When the duration ends of Lyney uses his Elemental Skill, he will dismiss the Grin-Malkin Cat and ignite fireworks that deal AoE Pyro DMG, summon 1 Grin-Malkin Hat, and grant himself 1 Prop Surplus stack.

Lynette is a sword-wielding Anemo user. Her Elemental Skill is a sword thrust that can restore her HP, and her Elemental Burst will summon a “Bogglecat Box” that attracts enemy aggro while dealing damage.

Lynette (Anemo sword-wielder)

Elemental Skill - Enigmatic Feint

Flicks her mantle and executes an Enigma Thrust, dealing Anemo DMG. When the Enigma Thrust hits and opponent, it will restore Lynette's HP based on her Max HP, and in the 4 seconds afterward, she will lose a certain amount of HP per second. Based on whether you press or hold this ability, she will use Enigma Thrust differently.

  • Press - She swiftly uses an Enigma Thrust.
  • Hold - Lynette will enter a high-speed Pilfering Shadow state and apply Shadowsign to a nearby opponent. When this high-speed state ends, Lynette will unleash Enigma Thrust. If there is an opponent with Shadowsign applied to them nearby, Lynette will approach them in a flash before using Enigma Thrust.
  • Fundamental Force: Ousia - At specific intervals, Lynette will unleash a Surging Blade when she uses Enigma Thrust, dealing Ousia-aligned Anemo DMG.

Elemental Burst - Magic Trick: Astonishing Shift

Lynette raises her mantle high, dealing AoE Anemo DMG, using skillful sleight of hand to make the giant Bogglecat Box appear!

Bogglecat Box

  • Taunts nearby opponents, attracting their attacks.
  • Deals Anemo DMG to nearby opponents at intervals.
  • When the Bogglecat Box comes into contact with Hydro/Pyro/Cryo/Electro, it will gain the corresponding element and additionally fire Vivid Shots that will deal DMG from that element at intervals.

Finally, Freminet is a claymore-wielding Cryo user. His Elemental Skill causes him to enter the special state “Pers Time” that allows him to inflict Shatter and other powerful attacks. His Elemental Burst will allow him to deal Cryo AoE damage and further buff his Elemental Skill.

Freminet (Cryo claymore-wielder)

Elemental Skill - Pressurized Floe

Does an upward thrust that will deal Cryo DMG and cause Freminet to enter Pers Time for 10 seconds. While in Pers Time, his Elemental Skill will turn into Shattering Pressure.

Shattering Pressure

  • Executes different sorts of attacks based on the Pressure level of Pers Time, and then cancels Pers Time.
  • Level 0: Unleashes a vertical cut that will deal Cryo DMG.
  • Levels 1 to 3: Unleashes a vertical cut alongside Pers, dealing Cryo DMG and Physical DMG. DMG dealt scales based on Pressure level.
  • Level 4: Borrows the power of a fully-pressured Pers to deal Physical DMG.

Pers Time

  • When Freminet uses Normal Attacks, he will also unleash waves of frost that deal Cryo DMG and increase Pers Pressure level. The accompanying Cryo DMG dealt the way is considered Elemental Skill DMG. After Pressure Level 4 is reached, initiating a Normal Attack will convert it to a Level 4 Shattering Pressure.

Fundamental Force: Pneuma

  • At certain intervals, after using the upward thrust, a Spiritbreath Thorn in the form of another upward thrust will be created, dealing Pneuma-aligned Cryo DMG.

Elemental Burst - Shadowhunter's Ambush

Unleashes a wave of untouchable cold, dealing AoE Cryo DMG, resetting the CD of the Elemental Skill Pressurized Floe, a causing Freminet to enter the Stalking mode for 10 seconds. While Stalking, his interruption resistance will increase, and Pressurized Floe will obtain the following buffs.

  • CD decreased by 70 percent.
  • Normal Attacks will give Pers 1 additional Pressure stack, and the frost released by his Normal Attacks deal 200 percent of their original DMG.

It’s not 100 percent known how many stars the new Genshin Impact 4.0 characters will be, but it’s expected Lyney is 5-star, and Lynette and Freminet are 4-star.

Genshin Impact can be played on PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices. Pending any unexpected delays, update 4.0 is expected to drop on August 16.
