Diablo 4 Season 1 Corruption Mechanic Teased by Blizzard Ahead of Todays Developer Livestream

Diablo 4 season 1 corruption

Ahead of today's Diablo 4 developer livestream, Blizzard has taken to Twitter to teach some sort of Diablo 4 season 1 corruption mechanic.

At least, that's what could be discerned from the short teaser video that Blizzard released some hours ago. "Corruption is taking hold", the tweet reads. "See what new evil threatens Sanctuary during tomorrow's Developer Livestream at 11 am PT."

As with most teasers, more details weren't provided about the spreading of this 'corruption'. To date, Diablo 4's development team hasn't detailed the theme for the upcoming first season, but going by this tweet, we're likely looking at some kind of corruption mechanic. As mentioned by Wowhead, this might very well be related to Corrupted Zones, or possibly, corrupted campaign bosses.

Diablo 4 Season 1 is kicking off later this month, and Blizzard's Rod Fergusson confirmed that a release date for the first season will be announced this week. We'll update you as soon as more information about Diablo 4 season 1 comes in. For now, stay tuned and discuss what you think will be the themes for the first season. How will Blizzard implement this rumored 'corruption' mechanic? In a similar way as Diablo 3's Helltide events? Hit the comments below.

Diablo 4 is available worldwide now for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. Here's what Alessio Palumbo wrote about the latest Diablo entry in his launch review:

"Combat is fast, frantic, and most importantly,  incredibly fun. Every single aspect contributes to that awesome feeling, from the silky smooth animations to the punchy sound effects and the lovely visual effects. It's Blizzard's polish at its finest. Pick up any class and from what I've played, you're bound to be satisfied by its power fantasy. The Barbarian crushes foes with relentless power; the Druid flows seamlessly from its many forms, hurling lightning a second before mauling its foes as a werebeast; and the Rogue successfully melds World of Warcraft's Hunter and Rogue classes into one, successfully mixing the archer and assassin playstyles."
