E3 2024 Has NOT Been Canceled Just Yet; No Final Decisions Have Been Made

E3 2024 has not been canceled just yet, the Entertainment Software Association has said.

Yesterday, several outlets reported that next year's annual E3 event and 2025's event were canceled. These reports were based on 'information' from the LA Tourism Board. Apparently, however, no final decisions about the fate of E3 have been made.

At least, that's what a spokesperson from the event's organizer, the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) told Axios writer Stephen Totilo. "ESA is currently in conversation with ESA members and other stakeholders about E3 2024 (and beyond), and no final decisions about the events have been made at this time."

In a follow-up tweet, Titilo shared a note that the ESA sent to game publishers about the annual gaming event. "We expect E3 to continue to be a part of ESA’s storytelling and are currently in conversation with a number of stakeholders about what E3 2024 (and beyond) should look like to best serve the interactive entertainment industry.”

Back in March of this year, E3 2023 was canceled as organizers simply did not garner sustained interest for this year's event. Here's what ESA said following the cancelation of this year's E3 event.

"We were off to a strong start", the organization said back in March of this year. "There was interest among exhibitors, industry players, media, and certainly the fans. Ultimately, however, there were challenges that proved too large to surmount."

The ESA added, "First, several companies have reported that the timeline for game development has been altered since the start of the COVID pandemic. Second, economic headwinds have caused several companies to reassess how they invest in large marketing events. And third, companies are starting to experiment with how to find the right balance between in-person events and digital marketing opportunities."

As always, we will update you as soon as more information about E3 2024 (and beyond) comes in.
