Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Dynamic FPS Mod 1.5 Introduces 288 FPS Cap, Cutscenes Fix, Better Performance

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

A new version of the excellent The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Dynamic FPS mod is now available for download, introducing significant improvements that further improve emulation.

The 1.5 version, which can be downloaded by going here, introduces a selection of very welcome improvements, such as a fix for Ultrahand vertical rotation speed and cutscenes speed. The new version of the popular Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom mod also features adjusted game-speed/delta-time code for more consistent performance and less micro stuttering and a 288 FPS cap, which helps stability when using Yuzu without the limiter disabled. The full patch notes can be found below.

  • Ultrahand vertical rotation speed should now be consistent across framerates
  • Cutscene speed should now be fixed, framerate will be limited to the video framerate during cutscenes, should work both with & without vsync enabled
  • Game-speed/delta-time code adjusted, using slightly different method to work it out, appears to have far less teleportation/micro stuttering for me now.
  • Added 288FPS max-framerate-cap to game, should prevent game from needing to deal with extremely fast deltatimes, helping improve stability when running with Yuzu limiter disabled.
  • Added support for v1.1.2 update
The previous v1.0.0/v1.1.0/v1.1.1 game versions are also still supported.

Being playable from day one on PC thanks to the Yuzu and Ryujinx emulators, modders have been working hard to improve The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and turn the emulated version into the definitive version of the game. Even without these unofficial improvements, however, the game is well worth playing, as highlighted by Nathan in his review.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is now available on Nintendo Switch worldwide.
