The Pokemon Company is one of the most controversial gaming companies due to the recent decisions around recent titles in the Pokemon franchise. Despite this, the gaming giant seems to be looking to expand its territory into Web3 and thus, blockchain technologies and NFTs. This is all according to a recent job listing that seeks to bring corporate-level developers with NFT, Web3, and metaverse experience.
The job listing, which can be seen below, was spotted on The Pokemon Company International's Greenhouse page (via LinkedIn), where all of the company's job listings are posted. The job description intends to have whoever fills the role specializes in corporate strategy, relations, and development/innovation in Web3 technologies.

So, yeah, it seems like the next approach for The Pokemon Company will be dealing with NFTs and blockchain ventures. How quaint. Of course, while that's the obvious speculation one would make, it also doesn't mean it will be an immediate transition for The Pokemon Company. At the very least, the listing suggests that TPC is interested in knowing more about the space and doesn't list any project, particularly at the moment.
The listing also says the successful applicant will have an “excellent business sense and ability to connect the relevance of potential partners or technologies with Pokémon’s existing assets," with applicants being encouraged to be "deeply connected to a network of investors and entrepreneurs in the technology sectors above (Web3 and metaverse)."
Of course, this means that The Pokemon Company will join companies such as Square Enix, SEGA, Ubisoft, and Konami, in the ever-increasing number of companies that have shown interest in NFTs and the blockchain. While, of course, this venture has proven to be quite damaging in terms of pushback from the gaming community, it still is something that companies have shown interest in as it involves a new revenue-gathering method.
In the meantime, we're going to be left with questions about Pokemon's future while this new job listing is fulfilled. What will The Pokemon Company's approach bring to the table? Will there be a demand for Pokemon NFTs? What do you think of this new job listing? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below and make sure to stay tuned for updates on this currently developing story.
