UK Casino Goes Into Administration

UK casino Broadway Casino in Birmingham has fallen into administration after failing to find a buyer for the struggling business.

Owned by Clockfair Limited the casino had been struggling since the re-opening of casinos since the COVID lockdown, business according to locals say never returned to its previous numbers and the company were unable to pay debtors.

The casino owners have appointed Matthew Ingram and Elizabeth Welch from Kroll the risk assessment firm as its administrators since the start of February.

Kroll said in a written statement that: “The casino was forced to close its doors during the Covid 19 Pandemic, in accordance with Government guidelines, which had an immediate impact on its finances.

“Customer footfall at the casino did not return to pre-Covid Pandemic levels impacting on its working capital and ability to pay its debts.”

 Kroll was tasked with marketing the casino for a sale however has failed to find any interested parties and now are now in the process of selling off all available assets from the casino.

It is not clear how many staff will be affected but it is reported the casino employed just over 100 staff. The Broadway was closed at the end of December and since then no offers for the business have materialised.
