Please don’t think the Filipino people or indeed the DDS are somehow stupid, nor any of the other 16 million voters!!! — British national to Raffy Tulfo

British national and Pinoy at heart Malcolm Conlan wrote an open letter to Raffy Tulfo in the wake of the controversial statement belittling the 16-million strong voters of President Duterte.

Conlan acknowledged that many Filipinos who can’t afford to pay a lawyer and some find it hard get by so Tulfo is considered at some kind of mediator, even a lawyer, a marriage counsellor or person of means who can help poor Filipinos and he respect him that and even grateful for the help he extended to many Filipinos in the past.

Conlan, a proud Duterte supporter, wasted no time in telling Raffy Tulfo not to assume that his 21 million or even 40 million combined subscribers will remain. And more importantly, his millions of followers will be translated as votes for him.

Conlan was particularly not pleased that Raffy Tulfo spoke like the 16M Filipinos who voted for Duterte in 2016 are somewhat less relevant than the combined 40M subscribers which he thinks he has. [You may watch the video here]

Conlan said that it takes only a second to like or click to subscribe his YouTube channel but actually going to the poll center to vote for someone is effort and time-consuming process.

Conlan said he also did not appreciate that Raffy Tulfo belittled the 16M Filipinos who had voted for President Duterte than the combined 40M subscribers he believe he has.

Conlan further elaborated his earlier position that subscribers and voters are not equal. Said it takes time to register to vote, then show up at the polling center to vote. He added that those who voted for President Duterte didn’t just watch videos on YouTube and decide to vote. Many wanted to see real change because they were sick and tired of the rampant crime and the scourge of illegal drugs in the country that has been left unchecked by the previous admins.

Conlan can’t help but ask Raffy Tulfo why he did not have the courage or balls to challenge him before, why belittle President Duterte’s 16M voters now?

Conlan can’t help but think Raffy Tulfo is simply politicking which seems to have become a trend as of late as the deadline of filing candidacies nears for failing to vocalize 3 or 4 years ago if he had any issue.

AN OPEN LETTER TO SIR RAFFY TULFO,

Dear sir Raffy,

I hope you don’t mind me writing to you like this and I know that you probably don’t know me at all, but I wanted to reach out to you just the same.

I have watched some of your YouTube videos in the past, but have not really paid that much attention to them or your work.

Whenever I have posted issues on my FB where Filipinos have been scammed or who have come to me asking for help, people have often commented on my posts with ask sir Raffy or even tagged you etc.

I do understand that many people in the Philippines can’t afford a lawyer and some find it hard to get by, so you are looked at as some kind of mediator or even a lawyer or marriage guidance counsellor or person of means who can help them. I respect that. I also respect and am grateful for the help you given to many people in the Philippines in the past.

But, please don’t assume that the 21 million or even 40 million combined subscribers you have will remain. Don’t also assume that if you ran for any public office that those 40 million subscribers would vote for you!!!

It takes less than a second to like or click subscribe on your channel, but actually taking the time and effort to vote for someone is a much more time and effort consuming process.

I don’t appreciate the fact that you seem to have compared the 16 million Filipinos who had voted for President Duterte as somehow less relevant than the combined apparent 40 million subscribers that you believe you have.

Voters and subscribers are not the same. It takes a lot to register to vote, then show up at the polling station and vote. Also those who voted for President Duterte didn’t just watch some YouTube videos and decide to vote. Many wanted to real change as they were sick of rampant crime and the scourge of illegal drugs in the country during the time of previous administrations. Never underestimate the Filipino electorate sir.

Anyway, you are very observant, well done, President Duterte does only have 10 months remaining in office, why did you not have the courage or balls to challenge him before, why do you belittle the 16 million voters of President Duterte like your 40 million subscribers of your channel would be worth more?

As you may have noticed over the last 24 hours, you lost a million subscribers in the blink of an eye. Please don’t take anything for granted sir.

Yes, I admit, I did call you the ‘king of Pinoy baiting’. Why?

Having watched a few of your videos recently, I don’t like how you sometimes act as judge and jury, I don’t like how your team played a recent canned ‘wow’ sound and clapping etc when you showed a female who had become pregnant to a Filipino man after a hotel encounter, just because I assume you and your team thought she looked pretty in the photo.

It’s not a circus and gone are the days of wolf whistling at females!!!

To me that’s sexist and almost like your team are making fun of the couple, it’s like they were being thrown into the lions den for the Filipino public to judge them?

These kind of videos make you at least £2,000 a time on YouTube as they are monetised. Question is, how do they do affect those in the video long term? How do they affect the mental health of those who appear on your show?

As I said at the beginning of my letter, I do appreciate some of your work sir, but please don’t think that the Filipino people or indeed the DDS are somehow stupid, nor any of the other 16 million voters!!! You can loose all that you have gained in the blink of an eye!!!

I do wonder sir why you were not so vocal say 3 or 4 years ago if you had any issue? Or are you simply politicking which seems to have become a lot more rampant as of late and coming up to the deadline of filing candidacies?

Anyway sir, thanks for reading my letter, I do hope you will consider my points, particularly raising the issue with your team as to how your YouTube videos are edited and put together.

Kind regards,

Malcolm Conlan
