Lady lawyer corrects Senator Manny Pacquiao’s perception vice president’s job is to sit and wait

Senator Manny Pacquiao responded to the question whether he was open to run for Vice President and the answer was an emphatic NO. The boxer turned senator said he wants change. Said he prefers to be active, doing something, not someone who is sitting doing down, not doing anything.

On that note, the Luminous, especially Atty. Trixie reminded Pacquiao that he has won a senate seat but he is also an active boxer which she said was not the reason why he was voted into office.

When the senator is training for a boxing match, promoting and during the day of the match, he is not doing any work related to the job he was voted into office in the first place, Atty. Trixie lamented.

Pero Senator, eto nga nakaupo ka sa senado, pero nagboboksing ka. Hindi yan yung dahilan para iluklok ka namin sa pwesto. For that time na nag training ka, nag promote, lumaban, wala ka ring ginagawa na trabaho para sa taong bayan, yung trabaho na itinalaga namin sa inyo nuong binoto kayo.

Atty. Trixie pointed out that being the vice president does not mean you are just a spare tire of the President and simply doing nothing because the Philippine Constitution says the vice president can be appointed by the President to hold a Cabinet position. In short, Pacquiao’s statement is inaccurate about the VP not doing anything.

Besides, ika nga ng saligang batas, ang isang bise presidente ay maaaring italaga sa gabinete. Duon merong gingagawa sir. So hindi rin accurate yung inyong perception na walang ginagawa ang bise.

Atty. Trixie ended the FB post by telling Senator Pacquiao that based on his statement, it could only mean he was thinking the wrong Vice or he does not understand the job of the vice president.

Mali lang siguro yung iniisip ninyong bise. O di ninyo talaga alam ang trabaho nito.
