Parang may mali. This is the initial reaction of DZRH senior reporter Henry Uri on what he uncovered about Senator Gordon and his generous donation of facemasks to Wuhan China.
Uri went on to narrate what happened in January 2020 with regards to Senator Gordon and the Philippine Red Cross that made him say that he suspected something was not right.
Last January, 2020 habang balot ng takot ang buong Pilipinas sa Covid19, namili pala ang Red Cross ng sandamakmak na facemask sa mga local manufactures tapos nagdonate pala ang Red Cross ng 1.4M$ na halaga ng face mask sa Wuhan China na sinasabing pinanggalingan ng Virus. At ipinagmalaki pa ni Chairman Gordon na sa loob ng 6 hours naipadala na agad ito sa Wuhan, pero noong tayo ang bumili sa China ng mabilisan dahil nanganganib ang buhay ng mga frontliners,kinukwestyon naman ito ng Senador.
Uri clarified he has nothing against extending aid to other countries in the name of world solidarity and humanitarian aid but during natural calamity and pandemic, even the US and China prioritizes their own people.
Hindi naman mali ang Humanitarian Assistance among nations. Ginagawa din nila yan sa atin. But even America and China, inuuna nila ang kanilang mamamayan sa panahon ng kalamidad at pandemya!
On that note, Uri implored Senator Gordon to explain why he and Red Cross prioritizes China with face masks donation worth $1.4M even when the covid cases in the country at that time was not yet alarming?
Kaya ang tanong nga, bakit kasi ang inuna muna ninyo Red Cross suplayan ng libreng mask ay ang Wuhan at hindi ang mga frontliners natin? Provided na hindi pa ganun kalala ang Covid cases natin, but as Red Cross dapat matindi ang disasters, calamities and pandemic analysis and anticipation ninyo sa mga biglaang sakuna.
Armed with the information regarding Senator Gordon’s face mask donation to Wuhan China, Uri confronted the senator to ask why he is questioning the rush importation of face mask of the government when he was partly to blame for the local shortage of the supply we badly needed.
